How To Upload Photos

There are a number of ways you can upload your photos.

  • From your web browser (this is the easiest way!)
  • Via Drag 'n Drop directly from your PC to your album.
  • Directly from "My Pictures" on your computer (this is also an easy way & best for batch uploading!)
  • Via a third photo management program that run on your PC.
  • Regardles of which method you use... there is no need to resize your images prior to upload. This will be done automatically for you on the fly.

Add Items from Your Web Browser

  1. Login, go to your album and click the “add items” link.
  2. Click the “From Web Browser” tab if you are not already on that tab.
  3. Click the “Browse” button to open a box that enables you to select your image.
  4. If you need more than the default 5 boxes, click the “more” link on the bottom of the page.
  5. If you want, you can enter a caption. By default the items filename will be used as a caption.
  6. Click the “Add Items” button on the bottom of the page to upload the items selected.

 

Add Items via Drag 'n Drop from Your PC

The upload Applet allows you to upload  images via drag 'n drop from your PC to Gallery.

  1. Login, go to your album and click the “add items” link.
  2. Click the “Upload Applet” tab if you are not already on that tab.
  3. You are now presented with a Java based upload form that you can drag'n'drop images to.
  4. Another method of selecting items for upload is to click the “Add Pictures” button.
  5. If you want, you can enter a caption. By default the items filename will be used as a caption.
  6. Click the “upload” button on the bottom of the page to upload the items selected.

 

Add Items directly from "My Pictures" on your PC

Windows XP comes with a nice feature that allows you to publish content from your PC directly to a web service such as Aussie Jeep Images. This feature is great for batch uploading as it will also resize your images on the fly. There is no need to mess about changing the dimensions or your images or their file sizes. Eg; a 2mb, 2000x2000px image will be automatically resized to about 65kb 1024x768px on the fly.

The first time you use this method, you will need to enable the web publishing feature on Windows XP. (note; you only need to do this once)

  1. Login, go to your album and click the “add items” link.
  2. Find the Windows XP tab, click it and download the configuration and save it to your desktop.
  3. Once downloaded, go to your desktop and right click on this file and you should see a menu appear.
  4. Select the Merge option. It will ask you if you want to import these values into your registry. Click 'Ok'.
Once you've enabled this feature on your PC, simply do the following to upload your images.
  1. Open My Pictures (or whichever folder your images are in) and select the images for upload.
  2. There should be a link on the left that says 'Publish this file to the web...' Click this link.
  3. Follow the instructions to log into your Gallery, select an album and publish the image.
  4. Select 1024x768 as the image size. This will be the full size pop up.

 

Add items using "Gallery Remote"

Gallery Remote is a program that runs on your PC that allows you to easily batch upload photos from your desktop to any Gallery site. With Gallery Remote you can upload photos, create albums, view slideshows, scale and rotate images, and much more. You can install Gallery Remote on all platforms (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux) and adding a lot of items at once is really simple.
  1. Download Gallery Remote and install it on your computer.
  2. Start Gallery Remote.
  3. Enter the address of your Gallery and your Gallery username / password and click 'login' in.
  4. Select your images for upload and the target album, then click upload.
